# Nail art designer

Paint five nails on a hand: pick a shape, then layer French tips, ombré, dots, stripes, glitter and stamps, or paint freehand. Designs stay in this browser.

## How to use the nail art designer

Start with the **nail shape** and **length**; they apply to the whole hand, and every layer follows the new outline. Then pick the nail you want to paint, by tapping it on the hand, using the Thumb to Little buttons, or pressing keys 1 to 5. The close-up on the right is the nail you are editing.

The tabs are layers, painted in this order: **Colour** (polish and finish), **Ombré** (a fade from the cuticle to the tip, or side to side), **Pattern** (polka dots or stripes), **French tip** (a smile line, a V tip or a half moon at the cuticle), **Glitter**, **Stamps** (hearts, stars, leaves, flowers, berries, moons and sparkles) and **Brush** strokes on top.

In Stamps, tap the close-up to place a stamp, or press Add stamp; the arrow buttons, size and turn sliders change the selected one. In Brush, drag on the close-up to paint. Keyboard users can focus the close-up, move with the arrow keys (Shift for bigger steps) and press Space to put the brush down or lift it, or use the ready-made strokes.

**Copy to all nails** repeats the current nail on the other four; **Edit all five at once** sends every change to all of them. Undo and Redo (Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Shift+Z) cover everything.

Example: for an accent nail, choose Almond and Medium, select Ring, set the colour to Bramble berry, open Stamps, choose Bramble flower in Ballet and press Add stamp, then nudge it up twice. Save it, or download the nail chart PNG to show your nail technician.

## Questions

**Are my nail designs saved?**

Your current design is kept in this browser as you work, so it is still there after a reload. Press Save to keep a named copy in the list below the tool. Nothing is uploaded: to move designs to another device, use Back up (JSON) and then Import on the other device.

**How do I show a design to my nail technician?**

Download the nail chart PNG. It shows all five nails large and labelled from thumb to little finger, with the shape and length written at the top, so it is easy to follow on a phone screen at the salon.

**Can I use the designer without a mouse?**

Yes. Every layer has buttons, switches or sliders, keys 1 to 5 choose the nail, and stamps can be added, moved, resized and turned with buttons. To paint, focus the close-up nail, move with the arrow keys and press Space to put the brush down or lift it; the ready-made strokes add waves, zigzags and swirls with one press.

**Will the colours match my real polish?**

Only roughly. Screens show colour differently, and real polish changes with the number of coats, the finish and the light. Use Custom colour to get closer to a bottle you own, and treat the result as a sketch rather than a colour match.

**Can I copy the sample designs?**

Yes. The samples were drawn for this site as starting points. Load one from Start from, change anything you like and save it under your own name.
